So another day..another..almost dollar. I’ve been trying to find work for what seems like forever! I’ve gone and applied to a bunch of clothing stores downtown Toronto. Most of them are really quite the pretentious assholes. I used to work at Le Chateau, I like a lot of their stuff but honestly they are so damn expensive. They are trying to attract more high end clients. After my 3 months trial I left. I had to go see my bf in England, I’d pick that over that freaking place any day. I had a great time there though, and I can’t wait to go back. When I got back though I needed to get back into the job market and haven’t been too successful. My main goal is really go start uni again in the fall of 2010.
I started the Fashion Design program at Ryerson in 2007, I had a pretty hard year as everyone else in the program can tell you. After second year I think i was pretty much burnt out. I managed to screw up my G.P.A with messed up life dramas and breakups and just a whole lot of mess. So here I am taking a year off to recollect my brain. In a way I guess I am starting over. My artist flow has finally returned a bit, I’m trying to get a job to make money but really, what I want is work in the field. I started interning with this designer for a line called House of Spy, she also has another line called Beatrice Holloway. It’s all knitwear and it’s pretty good. I like her she is a very upbeat fun person. Nice to see some people didn’t start a business and got smacked in the head with the bitch stick.Nicole and I (my flatmate) don’t really fit into the fashion world. We aren’t labels, and we don’t fit into a certain category. Keep hearing “you need to look like a fashion designer” from my mother. Seriously, Vera Wang wears like tights and t-shirt every other day, in solid colours and she makes awesome shit, so when I’m made of money for clothes, we can talk. Speaking of money for clothing I have none! I decided to start sewing them myself. Don’t know how far that is going to go, but it would look nice in a portfolio! And you know..represent! If I had the money I would start a collection right this minute; alas I do not. I reckon I would be rather successful since so many people already like what I make right now. I look around the runways and I see a lot of very generic things, and it makes me think “hell I could just do that”.
Speaking of runways, Mercedes Fashion Week is in full swing in New York right now. In L.A. they just had the MTV Video Music Awards, and in Toronto there is a Film Festival, makes it hard if you want to see them all! Impossible in fact. I was browsing some of the collections and some I like and some are kind of…started to make me wonder who is ever going to wear them day to day. Of course a lot of it is formal, but some is just…very questionable. However there were many things I did like

On a non girly topic. Guitar Hero 5 is coming out soon!! I signed up to this site called Game Access that lets you rent games online and they just send it to you for $20/ month or whatnot. Then you return then and they send you the next game you request! I shall see how that progresses, until then, back to job applications!
